MARNI REOPENS AT HARBOUR CITY

17 Oct, 2024

MARNI is delighted to announce the reopening of its newly expanded Harbour City boutique on the brand’s 30th anniversary. Developed by Creative Director Francesco Risso in collaboration with the in-house architecture team, the store concept embodies the brand’s bold aesthetic. Within this vibrant space spanning 1,664 square feet, MARNI’s men’s & women’s ready-to-wear collections and accessories are artfully displayed, inviting a refined shopping experience.

The Store Concept

The boutique boasts a captivating facade adorned with reflective silver tiles, contrasted by a striking red MARNI logo that gracefully draws the eye. The reflective silver elements are integral to the store’s design, with shimmering walls crafted to echo the vibrant hues of the collections.

Sculptural, curved racks crafted from polished stainless steel add a touch of elegance, while pastel-colored walls create a playful yet inviting atmosphere. Warm-toned furnishings harmonize with the bespoke lay-in carpet, which features a distinctive wavy pattern in shades of gray and yellow, collectively enhancing the boutique’s inviting ambiance.

FW24 Vol. 2 Collection

“Bring no clothes” – Virginia Woolf
In a letter inviting her friends to the countryside, Virginia Woolf encouraged them to strip all their symbolic implications, because it’s just us. Joy lives in that exchange, reminding us to reconnect with our original essence.

Francesco Risso returns to this foundational state of creation. He delves into the etymology of the word MARNI, which is linked to “Marina”—the concept of birth from water and waves. As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of MARNI, we embrace this moment by immersing ourselves in it: to feel, to sniff, to observe, and to meditate.

Unveiled in a hand-crafted paper cave in the tunnels of Milan Central Station, the Fall/Winter 2024 Vol.2 collection returns to an original state of creation, forbidding any reference to pervade the creative act. Geometric capes, bell dresses, and oval coats dialogue with kidassia jackets and fully hand-painted mini dresses, exemplifying Marni’s impulse for tactility.

The collection primarily features a palette of black and earthy tones, encouraging exploration while ensuring comfort. Bold accents of red and blue provide a compelling contrast. Furry materials evoke a sense of returning to an animalistic state, set in a land of freedom where imagination runs wild. Key silhouettes feature tailored suits with a full cut, designs that are split in half, and distinctive details such as bonded wool on the front to cover the collar and buttons, along with raw, unfinished edges.

To showcase the MARNI’s artisanal spirit, a one-of-a-kind dress crafted from duchess satin has been hand-painted with oil paint, creating a three-dimensional, fur-like spiky effect. A series of items features crayon-inspired scribbles, employing a brush technique combined with velvety fiber particles through a heating process.

The MARNI animalism extends to the leather goods collection. The FUSSBELT shoes are now crafted from a luxurious blend of marina, calf, and ovine leather, while the TRUNKAROO SOFT is rendered in supple ovine leather. A standout piece is the BUTTERFLY hobo bag, made from lustrous brushed leather with a semi-rigid structure and a curved silhouette. It features a maxi metal stud twist lock engraved with the MARNI logo and includes a suede lining with an interior card slot.
