Renowned British design company Paul Smith has launched a series of global stripe-themed exhibitions and activations around the world. Continuing the excitement, Paul Smith partners with Harbour City to unveil the new Stripe Illuminated installation in Hong Kong with local neon signs and the first Bar Paul in Asia on 28 September 2024.
Inspired by the Italian cafes that Paul Smith frequented in Soho in the 1960s, Bar Paul was originally created as a concept for Paul Smith’s SS25 presentation in Florence. Bar Paul will serve cocktails and other special drinks next to the photogenic installation at the observation deck, offering a one-of-a-kind wine tasting experience under the mesmerizing Hong Kong skyline and sunset moment against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour.
Bar Paul will present brand-new gin cocktails specially created for Paul Smith, along with other wines and drinks. Selected restaurants of Harbour City will also prepare various mouth-watering delicacies for free tasting! The Stripe Illuminated installation showcases the brand story and aesthetics blended in the style of Hong Kong’s iconic neon signs. Moreover, visitors can have a chance to receive personalised gifts of caricature portraits and HK-style keychains for free!
Bar Paul will open at Ocean Terminal Deck of Harbour City during weekends from 28 September to 27 October 2024, while the Stripe Illuminated installation will be exhibited until 10 November 2024, with free admission for both. Wine-tasting packages starting from HK$80 are available for online purchase on Klook, with limited quota! Supported by Standard Chartered credit cards, Bar Paul will introduce a themed cocktail in its symbolic colours of blue and green, along with an exclusive offer for the wine-tasting package.
Two brand-new gin cocktails specially created to boost the vibe of Bar Paul
Bar Paul is presenting two brand-new gin cocktails, each with their own theme. The Paul Smith cocktail, Sloe Sunset echoes the evening glow with its rosy hue, giving a touch of enjoying the magic hour at the observation deck. With the sweet tartness of roselle hawthorn tea, it is smooth and refreshing. The Standard Chartered cocktail, Shiso Cool gives a carefree vibe from its clear cerulean blue, akin to the vista as the Harbour melts into the sky. Starting with the aroma of shiso, it delivers a bold taste of gin, followed by herbal and minty notes with a citrusy aftertaste.
Apart from the signature cocktails, wines, beer, sake, whisky, sparkling water, and juice will be served on designated dates to satisfy every palate. To pair with the featured drink of the week, Auntie MALAY, Dan Ryan’s Chicago Grill, Terrace in Seaside, and Yamamotoya from Harbour City will prepare a wide variety of small-plate delicacies for free tasting, ranging from mini cheeseburgers and classic Malay satay to chicken wings and traditional gimbaps. To further boost the excitement, it will offer tailor-made caricature portraits and HK-style keychains for free, available on a first-come-first-served basis, letting everyone bring their personalised gifts home!
To savour the fizz and feast at Bar Paul, public can purchase tickets on Klook at a price of HK$150 to redeem a “wine-tasting wristband”. Pay with Standard Chartered credit cards to enjoy an exclusive package of HK$80 only. With each wristband, you can enjoy two drinks of your choice, and receive one designated delicacy OR one personalised gift for FREE (limited quantity while stock lasts).
Signature Stripe-themed installation tells the tale of Paul Smith in local Hong Kong style
Inspired by the vibrant neon signs adorning the bustling streets of Hong Kong, the Stripe Illuminated installation beautifully merges the brand story and aesthetics with the city’s rich local culture. The three 3x3m cubes pay homage to the modest dimensions of Paul Smith’s very first shop in his hometown of Nottingham in 1970, each uniquely showcasing the iconic Paul Smith Signature Stripe.
Reflecting Paul Smith’s passions, the installation displays lightboxes that highlight his childhood dream of cycling, the haberdashery that marked the beginning of his career, and his lifelong love for photography, all presented in a nostalgic Hong Kong style. Additionally, there are shimmering neon signs and a stylish stripy barber’s pole, offering charming photo opportunities.
