Dior is pleased to announce the opening of its new boutique in Hong Kong. Facing the bustling Canton Road at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui – the epitome of luxury shopping in the heart of the city – the new store embodies the Parisian house’s legendary refinement and timeless modernity.
Subtly revealing itself behind a spectacular façade illuminated by an unstructured cannage motif, this iconic setting of 885 square meters across two floors is imbued with a refined atmosphere, at the crossroads of the House’s heritage and an ultra-contemporary type of purity. Inspired by 30 Montaigne signatures – like the Versailles parquet and the toile de Jouy – it is dressed in shades of powdery white, gray, and gold.
At the store’s main entrance, visitors are welcomed by a giant glass crystal chandelier, handmade in Bohemia. This striking centerpiece directs the gaze to the floor above, where Dior’s aesthetic fundamentals are reimagined from a modern perspective. Iconic motifs become decorative elements, balanced by geometric proportions, architectural clarity, and serene lighting. Here and there, original works by artists including Peter Seal, Lu Song, Wang Yuyang, Max Cobalto, and Hong Hao express the ties that unite Dior with the art world. This ode to inventiveness is further celebrated by women’s ready-to-wear and accessories lines imagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri, which alongside creations by Artistic Director of Dior men’s collections* Kim Jones, are brought together in this exceptional, eternal space. An elegant stone spiral staircase in the rear takes guests up to the dedicated areas of fine jewelry and Dior Maison to explore the myriad dimensions of the richly electrifying universe of the house.
More exciting experiences come in the form of exclusive product launches, featuring dazzling box sets composed of four fully embroidered miniature Lady Dior bags, the new Rose des vents multi-color creations adorned with colorful gemstones, and selected items from the Dior autumn-winter 2022-2023 women’s collection paying homage to these embroideries of a delicate plant, flower, and bird-studded pattern, fascinated by a Marc Shaw photograph of Christian Dior in his winter garden. Dior Lady D-Joy become canvases for the bewitching illustration, which comes to life thanks to three-dimensional embroidery, the fruit of the ateliers’ virtuoso savoir-faire.
*The New Canton Road store is also part of the Dior Winter 2022 men’s collection pre-launch in the Asia Pacific region.
About Christian Dior
“Whatever you do — for work or pleasure — do it with passion! Live with passion!”
Christian Dior
Even before he sketched his first designs, Christian Dior had an unconditional passion for art in all its forms – but also for nature and its enchanting beauty. By his mother Madeleine’s side, among the roses in the Granville family villa’s garden, a young Christian enriched his knowledge of botany. A few years later, as a Sciences Po student in Paris, he became fascinated by avant-garde movements like cubism, and frequented the artists and intellectuals of his time. Surrounded by his friends, Christian Dior became a gallery owner at the age of 23. Initially an illustrator, he learned the trade of pattern making alongside Robert Piguet in 1938 and then asserted his style with Lucien Lelong. When he founded his company in 1946, his silhouettes celebrated the joy of living following the dark times wrought by the war; his visionary spirit never ceased to highlight the beauty of women the world over. In just ten years – from 1947 to 1957 – Monsieur Dior revolutionized elegance and femininity, building an empire of unique influence.
