The acclaimed fashion designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi joins ECCO as a creative partner, a new role which will see her create bi-annual ‘NRL’ capsule collections for the brand.
Working closely with the ECCO design team, Ramsay-Levi proposes a fresh take on ECCO signatures. Harnessing a mix between the sporty and the urban, the feminine and the boyish, the debut NRL drop, which encompasses 15 styles, includes eye-popping bright colours like bubble-gum pink and cherry red, and rubber-look leather detailing.
Playing with proportion, Ramsay-Levi has reimagined ECCO icons in a visually bolder language. Iconic shoes are transformed into monochrome heeled loafers, Biom trail shoes become colour-block pumps and lace-up, block-heeled walking boots have wear-everywhere appeal. “This is not about a designer coming in and changing everything,” she says. “It’s about highlighting what already exists with another point of view”.
“There is a quiet confidence to ECCO which I love. They know who they are, what they do, and control how they do it. And because they have this trust and awareness and knowledge, they can take risks. There is something very special, super authentic, super true about ECCO, I’m very impressed by the way everything is done – from technical innovations to the culture. I’m delighted to work with them again and excited to see NRL in the wild!” – Natacha Ramsay-Levi
Ramsay-Levi’s ECCO journey began when she was part of the first intake of designers participating in the At.Kollektive project. This was her introduction to the technical knowhow and innovations that ECCO was capable of, something she has employed in the first NRL collection. Her next NRL collection arrives in early 2024.
“I am thrilled to be working with Natacha again on NRL. She knows ECCO, she understands us, she feels the family spirit, and brings her unique point of view to the women’s sector. I completely trust her to twist what needs to be twisted and am really thrilled for existing and new ECCO customers to discover her new collection” – Panos Mytaros, CEO
