AIGLE has been preserving and showcasing its master bootmaking expertise since the brand’s creation in 1853. 2024 sees AIGLE celebrate 170(+1) years of heritage and innovation with Sarah Andelman.
Since the best parties are those with +1s who know how to have fun, the French curator has invited along eight surprise guests, renowned for their creative daring and French touch.
For this unmissable party, the special +1s have created their own twist on the iconic double-stripe boot, made in France from natural rubber and in a very limited edition.
At AIGLE’s factory in Ingrandes – certified Guaranteed French Origin since 2016 – the double stripe boot is among the House’s most iconic models.
Created in 1979, it was originally designed for water sports enthusiasts. Over the years, the whole family has taken to donning the double-stripe boot, whether they are by the coast, in the countryside or in the city.
Still hand-crafted by the House’s master bootmakers to this day, their natural vulcanised rubber guarantees to keep feet dry.
AIGLE and Sarah Andelman, curator and co-founder of former Parisian concept store Colette, have brought together a group of French personalities, brands and even a heritage site to shine a spotlight on this timeless boot. BIC, the Palace of Versailles, Etudes Studio, India Mahdavi, Jean Jullien, Lacoste, Loic Prigent and Lou Doillon embody a certain French art de vivre in each of their respective fields.
Today, these creative +1s have reappropriated the boot to lend it their own unique touch and pay tribute to its iconic status. Available from 13 September 2024, only 171 pairs will be produced as part of each collaboration.
Aurelien Arbet, Jeremie Egry and Jose Lamali, artistic directors of both Études Studio and the AIGLE Experience line, create fashion that never fails to combine style with function. For this special occasion with AIGLE, they have returned to the very essence of the boot as a work tool. With a stencil effect reminiscent of industrial lettering, the graphic boot is an unexpected element in both natural and urban landscapes.
“Combining practicality and elegance, the countryside and the city. Paying tribute to the handiwork of the French manufacturer, AIGLE. Applying our Etudes label to the stencil on the iconic AIGLE boot. Creating a product to make it into an object, an image.”
