Hong Kong Ballet’s 45th Anniversary Celebration at Harbour City

As the Campaign Partner of Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) 45th Anniversary, Harbour City collaborates with HKB to organize various exciting events for people all over Hong Kong to share in the joy of ballet. The public saw a vibrant ‘Ballet Spectacular by the Harbour’ Hong Kong Ballet Outdoor Theatre, ‘Tutu Academy Ballet Camp by the Harbour’ performance on 1 October and the inspiring 45th Anniversary exhibition ‘Harbour Ballet Reverie’ at Gallery by the Harbour at Harbour City from now until 22 October.

On 1 October against the beautiful backdrop of Victoria Harbour, the celebration kicked off with over 450 enthusiastic audience at the 2024 National Day Fireworks Display — ‘Ballet Spectacular by the Harbour’ Hong Kong Ballet Outdoor Theatre hosted at Ocean Terminal Deck of Harbour City. Everyone was dazzled by the 30-minute show featuring lively ALICE (in wonderland) excerpts ‘Tea Party’ and the delightful ‘Baby Flamingos’, an elegant Le Corsaire pas de deux and the ‘Tutu Academy’ world premiere. Every Saturday in September, the children aged 4 to 11 attended ‘Tutu Academy Ballet Camp by the Harbour’ and learnt about classical ballet movements and famous music from iconic ballets like The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Coppélia.

From now until 22 October, HKB’s interactive 45th Anniversary Exhibition ‘Harbour Ballet Reverie’ at the Gallery by the Harbour invites guests to peek into the vibrant creativity of HKB’s ‘Tutu Academy’ 45th anniversary theme, rich history and brilliant dancers. HKB’s distinguished legacy is presented through a display of rich archival photographs that capture iconic performances and candid behind-the-scenes moments.

Guests can choose a book and place it on the table to bring to life the stories behind each image in the book, as the magic of HKB is unveiled. The meaningful exhibition also features HKB principal dancers’ pointe shoes and tutus, as well as the ‘Tutu Academy’ cosmic spaceship and a joyful 45th Anniversary short film. For those who want a souvenir of this milestone celebration, new keychains, memo pads inspired by ‘Tutu Academy’ characters and other whimsical collections are also available at the gallery.
