LOEWE launches an exclusive collection of jewellery in collaboration with pioneering artist Lynda Benglis, a giant of post-war American sculpture and one of the most influential artists working today.
Debuted on the Spring Summer 2024 women’s runway in Paris, the collection features twenty designs each conceived as a piece of wearable sculpture. Benglis has explored motifs and techniques synonymous with her work including knotted, pleated, poured, and extruded forms. Original maquettes created in her Santa Fe studio using foil, mesh, clay, wire, and polyurethane have been translated into rings, cuffs, brooches, earrings, and pendants in 18ct gold, sterling silver, aluminium, enamel, and crystal.
Over the course of her six-decade long career, Lynda Benglis (b. 1941, Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA) has redefined the art object through her ceaseless innovation with form and materiality. Employing a gestural and physical engagement with materials as diverse as polyurethane, latex, sparkles, paper, plaster, bronze, and water, she has provocatively challenged our understanding of what sculpture can be. Worn on bodies that are constantly in motion, jewellery resonates with Benglis’ desire to create sculpture that is always transforming and ever responsive to the shifting world around it.
