Since the very first debut in Spring-Summer 1989 season, French Fashion House, Maison Margiela’s Tabi boots have become one of fashion’s most iconic items, and a part of the Maison’s oeuvre. For nearly thirty years, the house has produced countless variations in different materials.
Gallery by the Harbour proudly presents Maison Margiela “The Tabi Cult” Exhibition from 24 September to 7 October, showcases eight pairs of archived Tabi from headquarter in Paris, bringing back everyone’s memories of the transformation of this signature design. A series of photos and videos taken by Tabi lovers, and also the latest FW19 Tabi collection are also exhibited in this exhibition.
Decorated by white Tabi stickers all over the floor and windows to highlight the theme of this occasion, the exhibition replicates the Maison’s signature store ambience. Maison Margiela offers a modern, playful interpretation of the iconic design to everyone through the presentation of the eight pairs of archived Tabi, including the historical Tabi from AW89, the painted Tabi from AW98 and SS04, the topless Tabi from SS96, Tabi with unique cutting from AW92 and AW95, Tabi from AW14 created by John Galliano after he joined the brand and Tabi from Artisanal SS17.
The FW19 Tabi collection represents the brand’s modern and sassy style with mono and dual toned boots that exude classiness, as well as playful, eye-catching boots with graffiti, snakeskin print and silvery pattern.
Guests can also experience an interactive digital installation to identify their personalized style of Tabi. Simply by answering three questions regarding your favorite style, moment of the day and accessories, you will discover the pair of Tabi that best suits you. And by sharing the results on social media platforms, you can receive a special gift to remember.
