Finnish design house Marimekko was founded around creative printmaking in 1951 – the year 2021 will mark the brand’s 70th anniversary. To celebrate its seven decades of bold colors, Marimekko’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection will highlight some of the brand’s most iconic prints inspired by berries, fruits, vegetables and fresh flowers.
The joyful and positive Treats for Life collection takes us to a sunny Finnish summer market overflowing with ripe summer produce – a happy mix of strawberries, pears, melons and more embellish the season’s breezy pieces. As in every season, the Marimekko Spring/Summer 2021 collection combines a selection of archive prints with novel pattern designs.
The season’s key archive prints from the 1960s and 1970s include Maija Isola’s Appelsiini (orange), Mansikka (strawberry), Mansikkavuoret (strawberry mountains), Melooni (melon), Tori (marketplace), Päärynä (pear) and Unikko (poppy) as well as Linssi (lens) by Kaarina Kellomäki. New additions to this delicious abundance include Antti Kalevis’s Mehu (juice) and Torin kukat (market flowers), both from 2020.
Marimekko will celebrate its 70th birthday on May 21st 2021.
