The Prada Tropico Pop-up Store, dedicated to a special selection women’s ready to wear, bags, footwear and accessories, features a striking contrast of white and blue, accentuated by lighting effects and striped patterns. It revisits the brand’s visual hallmarks in a contemporary style, taking inspiration from imaginary far-off worlds.
Open from 21 March to 11 April at the Harbour City in Hong Kong, the space pairs the austere rationality of a pure, right-angled design with the pop flavour of elements like neon lights, which are used for the name of the brand and the iconic triangle logo that alternate around the perimeter.
At the centre of the pop-up is an astonishing lush stylised forest in monochrome white, which seems to break loose from its physical limits like an abstract, living presence.
The floors continue the effect of the stripes on the walls, while exotic timber furniture imbues the atmosphere with a relaxing quality.
This evocative space contains a selection of women’s products, mixing themes from the latest Prada catwalk shows with new interpretations of the brand’s iconic motifs. The freshness of gingham stands out in the women’s collection, seen in classic hues like pink and blue on skirts, tops, pyjamas and knitwear, but also on tote bags and large raffia bags. Padded nappa leather makes an appearance in white, black, pink and blue on the small tote, the Re-Edition bag and the new classic Prada Moon. The same pastel hues brighten up raffia bucket hats and peaked caps and a range of shoes: versatile Soft Cage sandals with an oversized sole, ultra-feminine slingbacks and slip-ons made of padded nappa and lifestyle-inspired loafers.
