“The Big Little Christmas” large-scaled outdoor festive display & art installation
Step into the Ocean Terminal Forecourt of Harbour City and enter a world of giants with “The Big Little Christmas” outdoor installation that is the largest art installation Tanaka has ever created! This breathtaking display features a magnificent 28-meter-long Santa Claus working desk and 5 enlarged festive miniature works of Tanaka. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in this enchanting setting, capturing memorable moments next to these oversized installations!
When entering “The Big Little Christmas” imaginative world, towering above you are Tanaka’s whimsical creations, including the impressive 5-meter-high cabin crafted from stacked books and the Santa Claus hat transformed into a magnificent 10-meter Christmas tree, adding to the festive wonder!
As you wander closer, you would discover Santa bustling about, preparing for Christmas, with delightful traces of his work scattered across the desk. A stunning 3.5-meter-tall ribbon stand brims with colourful festive ribbons, inviting you to revel in the enchantment of gift wrapping. Your eyes are drawn to the corkboard, where a giant Christmas sock and Tanaka’s creative works are pinned. The desk also displays 2 larger-than-life miniature scenes of Tanka, “Sweet Memories” and “Sweet Restaurant” where everyone can go inside and become the tiny figure. A strand of twinkling lights stretches from one end to the other end of the desk. Santa Claus is now ready to distribute gifts to everyone with his sleigh made with two festive candy canes!
At the Main Staircase of Ocean Terminal, you’ll discover an impressive 8-meter-high wooden advent calendar, with each box hiding festive ornaments like massive baubles, holly, and glittering tree toppers. As you ascend the stairs, you’ll be surrounded by numerous shimmering silver Christmas trees surround by gifts prepared by Santa Claus.
“Countdown to Mini-mas” Art Exhibition unveils 25 original Christmas calendar artworks of Tanaka
The “Countdown to Mini-mas” Art Exhibition unveils Tanaka’s tailor-made Christmas calendar artworks exclusively at Gallery by the Harbour, inviting everyone to experience his original creations up close — beyond just pictures.
Inspired by the concept of an advent calendar, this exhibition features 25 Christmas-themed miniature sets that serve as a delightful countdown to Christmas, each waiting to be joyfully unfolded as a delightful surprise. Everyday objects — cozy wool, stationery, waffles, books, and more — are magically transformed into a Christmas scene, playfully flipping our perceptions and turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. A cupcake morphs into a cozy wooden cabin; cotton swabs turn into snowmen; and binder clips become Christmas trees. You will also find Tanaka’s iconic cauliflower work, this time as a “cauli-forest”. Each artwork is designed with great detail, and you will be impressed not only by his creativity but also extraordinary skill and steady hand. Visitors can also take a Christmas ride on the enlarged Tape Dispenser sleigh!
Discover limited edition “Countdown to Mini-mas” merchandises featuring Tanaka’s miniature designs at the exhibition! Tanaka’s 25 Christmas-themed miniature sets have been photographed to create a calendar postcard set, available from December 1 to December 25, as a true “advent calendar”. You can also find Mini Acrylic Tray Blind Boxes and a Tote Bag featuring Tanaka’s creative festive designs. Additionally, art prints of Tanaka’s iconic artwork and his new 2025 calendar are also available for onsite purchase in the exhibition.
